Top Five Video Games (Non-Sport Related) of All Time Cont...

2. Donkey Kong - We are back at it boys...time to pick back up where we left off. Now some may argue what their #2 all-time (non-sport) related game is - and to be honest with you, I had trouble picking it myself...but when it came down to it, I went with the game that I wanted most as a little kid...It all comes back to me having only an Atari 2600...

...now some of you out there are going - "what's the problem?" - here is the problem...Donkey Kong was originally released by Coleco Vision in 1982 (the "better" graphic system at that time in my opinion) - but it was created by Nintendo Co. - go figure! -- Bet you did not know that - now you can impress all your friends at work!...Anyway, back to the game - You are Mario, working hard to save the lovely Pauline from the evil ape, Donkey Kong. Along the way you climb ladders, jump over rolling barrels, fireballs - you name it!...also, you may find yourself snatching up purses and umbrellas to rack-up extra points (why Mario needs a purse I am not sure - and if this were actually real, do you think you would care about grabbing a purse here or there for a few extra points?).

One of the cool things I remember about DK was having Mario jump up and grab the hammer and becoming invincible for a few seconds - at least at age 7 it was...The game finally ends when Mario reaches the Rivet level. After all the rivets are removed, Donkey Kong falls to his death and all is well again with Mario and Pauline...here is where the idea of Mario came from - not Super Mario Bros. - this is why DK gets my #2 vote.
