Fantastic Forties - Where is Preston?

I am not a big fan of Hollywood...as I get older, I continue to lose interest in all of them and what they have to say (and the lack of walking the walk...only talking the talk) - off the soap-box - with all of that said, there are still some very attractive people in Hollywood...

I ran across this link on fox sports and looked through all of the pictures...assuming I would see Kelly Preston (Jerry Maguire, Jack Frost and For Love of the Game just to name a few) on this list...hence the title of this blog, she of course was not...is it just me, or should she most def. be on this list? -- I say YES!

Hall of Fame Dad

I do not know if any of you got to see this over the weekend on ESPN...If you did not, it is worth taking a little bit of time to watch it!...follow the steps below - and have a tissue ready just in case...
1. go to espn.com

2. in the search bar type "Hall of fame dad" (without the " ")

3. there should come up a search screen and a little icon picture to the right (OTL:Hall of Fame Dad) - click on the icon - this will take you to espn360.com
4. that will take you to a portion of the video, but to get the full affect to the left of the video there is a section called "The Latest" -- make sure to click on Baseball first under "The Latest"-- find the icon under baseball (Son gets Father into the Hall of Fame) and click on it...this will give you the entire video from start to finish
5. make sure you have 5 minutes or so to watch the whole thing

Atlantis Chasing Space Station

Here are my thoughts..."chasing the space station?" -- why don't they just turned around and go the other way - be a lot quicker! (I do know why...just found it humorous)

By SETH BORENSTEIN, AP Science Writer 1 hour, 7 minutes ago

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - The space shuttle Atlantis, fresh from a fiery and nearly flawless launch, was in hot pursuit of the international space station on Saturday, but won't catch up until Sunday.

Atlantis' seven-man crew was closing the gap between the two space bodies by 920 miles every 90-minute orbit. By 9 a.m. EDT, the shuttle was scheduled to be 8,630 miles away from its destination. Atlantis was to dock with the space station Sunday afternoon.
During the 11-day flight, the astronauts will deliver a new segment and a pair of solar panels to the orbiting outpost. They plan three spacewalks — on Monday, Wednesday and Friday — to install the new equipment and retract an old solar panel.
On Sunday, astronaut Clayton Anderson will replace astronaut Sunita Williams as the U.S. representative aboard the space station, and Williams will return to Earth aboard Atlantis. She has spent the past six months in orbit.
Much of Saturday's work was designed to set the stage for Sunday's docking and the tasks that follow. Astronauts were also going to check if the shuttle was damaged from foam debris shaken loose during Friday night's launch. It was a foam hit that caused Columbia's fatal accident in 2003; since then,
NASA' name=c1> SEARCHNews News Photos Images Web' name=c3> NASA spends its first full day in orbit looking for potential problem spots.
About an hour after launch, NASA managers said initial checks found nothing to worry about. One piece of foam that appeared to come off the shuttle's fuel tank — which bore ugly white patches that repaired hail damage that had delayed the flight by three months — about 135 seconds after launch did not seem to hit the shuttle, said shuttle program manager Wayne Hale.
"The tank performed in a magnificent way, despite having several thousand repairs to it," Hale said at a news conference. "(The debris) should not be a hazard that late in the flight."
Astronaut Patrick Forrester will use the shuttle's robot arm and a boom extension to examine its wings and outer edges.
Minutes after launch, Atlantis' contrails formed an intricate and unusual knot in the Florida sky, framed by the colors of sunset and with the bright light of Venus peeking through.
Veteran shuttle watchers oohed and aahed at the second sky show of the night.
The first shuttle launch of the year helped put NASA back on track after a run of bad luck and scandal on the ground during the first half of the year.
In the past few months, NASA has seen the arrest of astronaut Lisa Nowak in an alleged plot to kidnap her rival for a shuttle pilot's affections; a murder-suicide at the Johnson Space Center in Houston; and the derailment of a train carrying rocket-booster segments for future shuttle launches.
More recently, NASA Administrator Michael Griffin has come under fire for suggesting that global warming may not be a problem worth wrestling with. And the agency's inspector general was lambasted at a congressional hearing Thursday by former staff members, congressmen and senators over the way he managed his office, treated his employees and investigated complaints.

Words Women Use

1.) Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

2.) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means half an hour. Five Minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

3.) Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.

4.) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!

5.) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing (refer back to #3 for the meaning of nothing).

6.) That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

7.) Thanks: A woman is thanking you - do not question or faint. Just say you're welcome.

8.) Whatever: Is a woman's way of saying ____ YOU!

9.) Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking, "what's wrong." For the woman's response, refer to # 3.

Send this to the men you know, to warn them about arguments they can avoid if they remember the terminology. Send this to all the women you know to give them a good laugh, cause they know its true!

McGwire didn't play for the Hall

We wanted to see homers, and Mark McGwire hit them. He hit them out of sight. We came to ballparks 2 hours early just to watch him in BP. We demanded that he hit BP so much that Tony La Russa had to issue press releases before the Sundays when McGwire wasn't going to hit.

Now we're treating Big Mac as if he was Frankenstein. His biceps are like the bolts on Frankenstein's neck, a symbol of the monster we created. We wanted homers, and he hit them for us.

But after we made McGwire a hero, we found out that yeah, he might have used something to do what he did. Then again, maybe he didn't. We can't be sure, can we?

Doesn't matter. Now there's a big angry mob with pitchforks and torches that wants a pound of his flesh. It plans to get it when voting results are announced Tuesday for this year's Hall of Fame class. Though he hit 583 home runs, including 70 in that record-breaking summer of 1998, McGwire is not expected to make the cut.

Whether McGwire was using something was of no concern in 1998. We didn't care what he looked like. Did you say anything back then? The Cardinals surely didn't. Neither did baseball. McGwire was his team's and the game's golden goose.

Perhaps things would be different for McGwire if he had answered questions at the congressional hearing two years ago. But really, what could he say? He said in his opening statement that if he denied using steroids, no one would believe him and if he admitted to using them, he would risk "public scorn and endless government investigations." He probably was right, not that it might have mattered. Those close to McGwire knew he wouldn't go against baseball's unwritten rules and sell out any of his colleagues.

So after he told the committee he was not there to talk about the past, the angry mob went berserk and now that angry mob is going to teach him a lesson.

Well, I hate to inform the angry mob, but the McGwire I've gotten the chance to know couldn't care less if he's in the Hall of Fame. You don't see him peddling his name or his likeness to keep his persona in the public conscious. He's living his life away from the spotlight just like he tried to do when he was playing.

I heard one member of the angry mob say if McGwire doesn't want to talk about the past then he doesn't want to talk about McGwire's past, either. Ooohhh, scary. You know what? The angry mob doesn't understand that you can't hold the Hall over his head. McGwire is one of those players who if he doesn't get in, it looks bad on the Hall of Fame. He was that dominant a player.

We live in a society when we want it all. The angry mob loved McGwire in 1998 but now wants his head. Well, I want the media to know that if you put McGwire in or leave him out, that's not why he played.

I don't think he cares one way or the other.
